New freshwater sport fishing regulations which took effect on March 1, 2021, aim to simplify and streamline the laws regulating inland fishing while maintaining and protecting California’s fisheries. Accomplishing the Turkey Grand Slam on a Budget  The National Wild Turkey Federation recognizes six different slams for wild turkeys, the most popular being the Grand Slam. To achieve a Grand Slam, a hunter must harvest the four most common subspecies of the American wild turkey (the Eastern, Merriam's, Rio Grande and Osceola). Jeff Budz of Florida has completed a Super Slam -- killing a wild turkey in each of the 49 states. He also has more Grand Slams than anyone else. For wildlife, surviving an average Iowa winter is challenging enough. When the winter includes consecutive days where temperatures don’t cross above zero and new snow arrives weekly, survival can become extremely difficult. SCDNR Reminds Hunters of Regulations for 2021 Spring Turkey Season

South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) wants to remind hunters of regulations for the 2021 spring turkey hunting season that opens March  22 on Private Lands in Game Zone 3 and 4. All hunters, including youth, are required to have turkey tags in possession while hunting during the regular season. Wisconsin 2021 Wolf Hunting Season Closed After Just 3 Days

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources  announced that all wolf harvesting zones are now closed to hunting and trapping gray wolves. Zones 2,5,6 closed at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 24. Zones 1,3,4 closed at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24. Hunting and trapping during the closed season/zone carries a forfeiture amount of $303.30. States Set 2021 Columbia River Spring Chinook Recreational Seasons

Fishery managers from Oregon and Washington adopted recreational spring Chinook salmon and steelhead seasons for the Columbia River today during a joint state hearing. These regulations modify the current rules which are in effect through Feb. 28 downstream of Bonneville Dam and through March 15 upstream of Bonneville.
