Minnesota 2021 Landowner Enrollment Set to Begin for Walk-In Access program

Enrollment opens for Minnesota’s Walk-In Access program, which pays private landowners to allow public hunting on their lands, on Monday, March 15. This year, landowners can receive $18 per acre enrolled. And the program is expanding to include more counties. Much of the Rio Grande wild turkey range in Texas experienced two great years of turkey production and recruitment in 2019 and 2020, and this means that hunters this spring season can expect to see many jakes and two-year-old gobblers across most of the Rio Grande range. Wisconsin 2021 Spring Turkey Bonus Harvest Authorizations Available March 15

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will begin selling 2021 bonus turkey harvest authorizations on Monday, March 15, with a designated sales date for each zone. Previously known as leftover permits, bonus harvest authorizations are available for purchase online and at all license agents. Sales begin at 10 a.m. and run through midnight each day. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reminds hunters that the application period for the 2021 elk hunt is open through May 31 for the chance to draw a hunt of a lifetime. Elk hunting season is open Oct. 16-Nov. 14 and Dec. 9-17, 2021. Successful applicants can hunt during either period. Only Wisconsin residents are eligible to receive an elk tag. Wisconsin Seeking input for 2021 Fall Migratory Bird Hunting Season

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will host a series of public meetings to gather input for the proposed 2021 migratory bird hunting season structures. South Dakota Nest Predator Bounty Program Approved for 2021 and 2022

At their March meeting, the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) Commission approved a resolution to authorize the Nest Predator Bounty Program for 2021 and 2022. The resolution specifies that the 2021 and 2022 program will include a payment of $10/predator with a maximum of $500,000 in bounty payments each year. Texas Confirms Chronic Wasting Disease in Lubbock County

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) recently confirmed Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in a free-ranging 8 ½-year-old mule deer in Lubbock County, marking the first positive detection of the disease in the county. Texas Lakes Are Producing Giant Bass Right Now

Despite Winter Storm Uri’s fury in mid-February the hottest bass fishing in the country is in Texas right now, with multiple double-digit largemouths being caught in just a couple days. Minnesota Implements New Sunfish Regulations on Nearly 100 Waters

Sunfish anglers will need to closely check the 2021 Minnesota Fishing Regulations booklet and signs at water accesses for new sunfish limits that are now in effect on 94 waters. The new regulations lower limits on specific waters as part of a Minnesota DNR initiative to protect and improve sunfish sizes. Missouri’s 2021 spring paddlefish snagging season opens March 15 through April 30 at the state’s major paddlefish snagging waters which include Lake of the Ozarks, Truman Lake, and Table Rock Lake. Vermont Reminds Anglers to Remove Fishing Shanties before Ice Weakens

Vermont state law requires that ice fishing shanties be removed from the ice before the ice weakens, according the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department. Hunt Proposed to Improve Health of Vermont Moose

A limited moose hunt in Vermont’s Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) E in the northeastern corner of the state is proposed in order to reduce the impact of winter ticks on the moose population.
