Interested hunters have through Friday, June 11, to apply for one of 30 elk licenses offered this year by the Minnesota DNR. Seasons will run from late August to mid-October. This year’s seasons are similar to last year’s, which provided hunters with more opportunities to harvest antlerless elk. The 2021 Public Waters Alligator Hunting Season in Mississippi will open at 12:00 p.m. on August 27 and continue through 12:00 p.m. September 6. The application process for the 960 available permits will begin at 10:00 a.m. June 1 and continue through 10:00 a.m. June 8.  Applications are accepted on-line or at any point-of-sale location where MS hunting and fishing licenses are sold. Vermont’s muzzleloader season antlerless deer permit applications are now available online at Vermont Fish and Wildlife’s website and from license agents.  The deadline to apply for a muzzleloader antlerless deer permit is August 4.    A West Virginia angler caught a state record muskellunge on April 30 in Braxton County. Chase Gibson of Mount Clare, WV, caught a 54.0625-inch, 39.64-pound musky at Burnsville Lake, breaking the previous record for length (53.5 inches) held by Joe Wilfong since 2017. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is now accepting offshore waterfowl blind and shoreline license applications for riparian (waterfront) properties. ODFW is releasing tagged hatchery rainbow trout into Galesville and Cooper Creek reservoirs in the next few weeks, and anglers who catch them have a chance to net a $50 gift card.    Congratulations to Henry Charlier of Boise on landing a 34-pound common carp from the Snake River. Henry wrangled the lunker carp while fishing the stretch below CJ Strike Reservoir on May 3, 2021.
