The C2 Cattle Company will conduct an Oct. 20 drawing to allow five Oregon archery hunters to hunt the Rogue unit late archery deer season (Nov. 13 to Dec. 5) on the ranch. Big Creek (lower Columbia River tributary east of Astoria) opened to fishing more than two weeks early (Oct 1) to allow anglers to access an expected large hatchery coho salmon run and surplus hatchery Chinook salmon. California’s recreational spiny lobster season is set to kick off Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, at 6 a.m., continuing through March 16, 2022. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) announced it is now accepting applications for 2021 Waterfowl and Upland Game hunting opportunities this fall on private land through the Illinois Recreational Access Program (IRAP). Applications for IRAP Waterfowl opportunities are due four weeks prior to the hunting period selected by applicants. One Montana’s Master Hunter Program (MHP) is accepting applications from Oct. 1 through Nov. 30 for the 2022 program. Class locations include Missoula (March), Helena (April), Big Timber (April) and Havre (May). Each class will consist of two three-day consecutive weekends (Friday – Sunday). West Virginia’s 2021 archery and crossbow seasons for white-tailed deer, black bear and wild boar opened on Saturday, Sept. 25 and will run through Dec. 31. The Minnesota 2021 archery deer hunt opened Saturday, Sept. 18, in the East Minnesota River Refuge. The refuge is located entirely on private land in Blue Earth and Le Sueur counties along the east bank of the Minnesota River. Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks will auction antlers the state has confiscated, mostly from poachers, over the last four years. The auction is Sept. 25 at the National Auction House in Billings.
