The application period for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency 2021 Spring Turkey Quota Hunts is open through Jan. 13. Applications are available and will be accepted at any TWRA license agent, TWRA regional office, or online. Mailed applications will not be accepted. Resident hunters in West Virginia can submit an application for one of the 200 permits on designated private lands owned by Natural Resource Partners during the upcoming firearms season for wild boar. Texas Toyota ShareLunker Program Launches 35th Season

The turning of the calendar to January signals the beginning of the 35th season of the Texas Toyota Sharelunker program. The year-round Toyota Sharelunker program offers four levels of participation for catching bass over 8 pounds or 24 inches in Texas. During the first three months of the season (Jan. 1 through March 31), anglers who reel in a 13+ pound bass can loan it to the TPWD for the ShareLunker selective breeding and stocking program. Winter is tough on wild critters, that’s why Colorado Parks and Wildlife maintains State Wildlife Areas to protect critical habitat that provides refuge areas for big game. MDWFP Confirms CWD in Tippah and Alcorn Counties

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) recently received Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) positive test results for two hunter-harvested bucks from Tippah and Alcorn counties.  These are the first CWD-positive detections for these counties.  The samples are considered suspect positive through initial testing and will be sent to the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in Ames, Iowa for final confirmation. Wyoming Shed Antler and Horn Hunting Closed in Western & Southern Areas

A Wyoming GFC regulation prohibits anyone from collecting shed antlers or horns on public land, such as U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands, state lands and Wyoming Game and Fish Commission owned or administered lands west of the Continental Divide, excluding the Great Divide Basin, and some land west of Laramie, from Jan. 1 through 6 a.m. on May 1 of each year.
