ODFW Extends Red Abalone Closure, Delists Borax Lake Chub

Oregon’s Fish and Wildlife Commission voted unanimously to extend the current closure of the recreational abalone fishery for three years as a precaution. Recent surveys show a continued trend toward decline in Oregon’s population of red abalone due to poor environmental conditions. March 1 marks the annual opening of the 2021 catch-and-keep trout fishing in Missouri at the state’s four trout parks: Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon, Montauk State Park near Licking, Roaring River State Park near Cassville, and Maramec Spring Park near St. James. LDWF Announces Changes to License Printing

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is changing how hunting and fishing licenses are printed. Beginning March 15, 2021, licenses and tags will no longer be printed on durable stock paper. After only two hours of fishing, the Michigan 2021 sturgeon season on Black Lake (in Cheboygan and Presque Isle counties) ended slightly after 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6. The season, which included spearing and hook-and-line fishing, was scheduled to run Feb. 6-10, or until the harvest limit quota of six lake sturgeon had been reached. Wisconsin’s annual sturgeon spearing season begins Feb. 13 and runs for 16 days, or until any of the pre-determined harvest caps are met. Alaska Sets 2021 Southeast Chinook Salmon All-Gear Catch Limit

Under the management provisions of the Pacific Salmon Treaty (treaty), the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) announced recently that the preseason all-gear catch limit for Southeast Alaska (SEAK) is 205,165 treaty Chinook salmon for 2021. The ADF&G target will be 201,100 Chinook salmon.
