The daily bag limit for mourning doves is 15. There is no limit on collared doves. Doves not readily identifiable as collared doves will be considered mourning doves and will count toward the mourning dove daily bag limit. No person shall take migratory game birds by the aid of baiting, or on or over any baited area. Any auto-loading or repeating shotgun must be incapable of holding more than three shells while being used for dove hunting.

As OUR COUNTRY REOPENS AGAIN (from the COVID-19 pandemic) and continue to enjoy outdoor activities, ALL outdoor enthusiasts (man, woman, child) should follow the guidelines set by nps.gov. These guidelines include; social distancing, the Leave No Trace principles, including pack-in and pack-out, to keep outdoor spaces safe and healthy.
Tennessee 2020 Grouse hunting season opens Oct. 10 - Feb. 28, 2021: Daily bag 3. Seond segment dove season: Oct. 10 through Nov. 1; and Dec. 8 through Jan. 15, 2021. Hunting times, other than opening day, are one-half hour before sunrise until sunset. Dogs allowed for hunting allsmall game species, except on specific WMAs where indicated.
Best places to see in Tennessee: Ruffed Grouse are more easily heard than seen. Males drum from mid-April through mid-May. They can be found in the Northern Cumberland WMA, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Roan Mountain.
Doves are found throughout the various regions in the state, but the highest concentration is in farming areas. The hunter must have in his/her possession a valid state hunting license and Tennessee Migratory Bird Permit at all times while hunting. Hunters must have landowner’s permission to hunt on private land.
